  3. should be put onto a blank floppy disk. Then follow the instructions listed
  4. below to update your Windows 95 SCSI miniport drivers.

  11.    What is a SCSI miniport?  A SCSI miniport is a device driver that controls
  12.    your SCSI host adapter.  For example, if you are running Windows 95 with
  13.    an Adaptec AHA-2940, the miniport driver you are using is named
  14.    aic78xx.mpd.  In order to aid users of Adaptec SCSI host adapters, we've
  15.    included several newer miniport drivers on this floppy.  These drivers
  16.    are for Windows 95 only.

  18.    The following miniports are located on this floppy:
  19.  
  20.      o  AIC78XX.MPD
  21.      o  AHA154X.MPD
  22.      o  SPARROW.MPD
  23.  
  24.    The ADAPTEC.INF file is also required to be on this floppy.

  26.    If you would like to update your SCSI miniport driver with one listed
  27.    above, follow these steps:
  28.  
  29.    1.)  Run Device Manager.  You can do this by moving the mouse pointer
  30.         over "My Computer," clicking the right mouse button, and selecting
  31.         the "Properties" menu option.
  32.    2.)  Select the "Device Manager" option.
  33.    3.)  Expand the "SCSI controllers" tree to view your SCSI host adapter(s).
  34.    4.)  Double-click on your SCSI host adapter.
  35.    5.)  Select the "Driver" option.
  36.    6.)  Select the "Change Driver..." option.
  37.    7.)  Select the "Have Disk..." option.
  38.    8.)  Enter your floppy drive letter (e.g. A:\) as the location to copy
  39.         the manufacturer's files from.
  40.    9.)  Insert the disk with the miniport files and adaptec.inf into your 
  41.            floppy drive and click "OK."
  42.    10.) Select the name of your host adapter and click "OK."
  43.    11.) Click "OK" and the driver will be copied to your hard drive.
  44.    12.) You must restart your computer for the changes to take effect.
  45.         Click "Yes" to restart your computer.  Click "No" to return to the
  46.         System Properties window.

  48.    NOTE:  The miniports (AHA154X.MPD, SPARROW.MPD, AIC78XX.MPD) may be
  49.           manually updated by simply copying them to your Windows' IOSUBSYS
  50.           subdirectory.  For example:

  52.           C:\>copy a:\*.mpd c:\windows\system\iosubsys
  53.  
  54.    If you purchased the CD-ROM version of Windows 95, additional SCSI
  55.    miniport drivers are located in the \Drivers\Storage directory of your
  56.    Windows 95 CD-ROM.
